How did we work on the project?
Next, we started to look at different used stores to find possible loose parts, going to places like the Talize, Home Depot, and Value Village. However, we did have to buy items we couldn’t find at used stores at the dollar store. While we were working through this process, we decided to send pictures of our purchase to each other on our Facebook group messenger. As we wanted to make sure we all had valuable say in the items we planned to put into the wonder wagon.
From there Divya and Christine planned to collect rocks, sticks, and pinecones to bring to our weekend meeting at Christine’s place, in preparation for paint. Kaylynn brought all the items she had purchased to go over everything that we had and what we still needed to get or collect. After painting wooden roads and rocks, we packed up everything in Kaylynn’s car, so nothing would go missing. As the next week approached we felt that we still needed to come together to do some last-minute touches on our painted items. As a team, we planned to meet at Christine’s over the weekend, at this meeting Christine and Divya painted a few more rocks and roads, as well as sanding some unpainted wood to support the children’s inquiries and imaginations.
While part of the group was doing this, Kaylynn collected all the materials to organize and plan what items would go into each bin. Once each item had a place Kaylynn took pictures to remind us where to put everything and to create labels for the different bins. Together we discuss what tasks were left to do, Divya would create labels, Kaylynn would collect games and activities for the educator’s and Christine decided to put together our invitation and letter to families. Once all our tasks were done, we were ready to take our project to the public school.
